Why do people hate Christians and love Jesus?

Last weekend I had a chance to spend time with Carl Medearis – a man who has distinguished himself as someone who can speak about Jesus with anyone.  From Middle East “terrorists” to old Rock’n’Roll stars, he gets past religious rhetoric and engages many “unlikely” friends of Jesus in conversation that open people to the Kingdom of God.

I think that why I loved engaging with Carl is he pointed to Jesus model of teaching.  With the religiously knowledgeable leaders (of his own religion) he was very unyielding and harsh, but with the poor, oppressed and followers of other religions (the The Syrophoenician woman, the Roman soldier, Pilate, the Samaritan woman & leper) he was gracious, patient and kind.

Here’s Carl talking about what makes Jesus’ stuff, really good news.

What do you think?  How can Jesus be good news to both a religious, North American Christian and an Islamic terrorist?
