We are at the Royal Albert Hall for 2 days of leadership inspiration and a day of Alpha celebration. Here are some things I’ll hang on to from day one.

Quotes from Archbishop Justin Welby

The moment of salvation is when we learned what Christ did for us, not what we do for Him.

“There were more people paid to be there than were there voluntarily. Which is not a good method of church growth, in case you’re considering it.”

“Without Christ, we are just the Rotary with a pointy roof.”

“We are what we are before God and nothing more.”

“The cathedral should be a safe place to do risky things in Christ’s service.”

“There is no safety in Christ. There is absolute security but no safety.”

No where in the history of the church has renewal of the church not been preceded by a renewal to prayer.

Leadership Principles

Be passionate
Be compassionate – dare to change someone’s path.
Be empathetic – don’t try to impress, feel responsible for helping and encouraging.
Be courageous – I’d rather be guilty of the things I’ve done, not the things I’ve not done.

Bill Hybels

There is nothing like the local church when the local church is working right.

Ken Costa, author of God At Work

God didn’t come for 1 hour of my week, he came for all my life.

It’s a great fallacy that we need to emigrate out of the world in order to fulfill our God given role.

Christianity is the most materialistic religion – it’s meant to be lived out in the world, including the marketplace.
